The Foundation Year In Photos
At our recent end of year meeting we asked staff to submit a photo that summed up their year, showed a standout moment from the past 12 months or gave an insight into behind the scenes at the Foundation.
We liked them so much we thought we’d share them with you! We’ll upload one image per week from a different staff member.
Our staff submit regular, detailed reports about our work in the community and we thought this would be a different approach to allow us to share our experiences in a fun way.
We hope you enjoy seeing the photos as much as we did!
The latest submission is from Charlotte Dodson, our Health and Wellbeing Project Manager. This photo captures two of Charlotte’s projects in one! Walking Football is a new weekly initiative that the Foundation runs and here it’s particpants are enjoying half time oranges that have handily been kept in the new Health Van’s fridge! The Health Van will visit communities around Newcastle promoting active lifestyles, doing health checks and promoting our health and wellbeing activites.
Laura Wilson works in our Youth and Community team and her photo showsthat their work isn’t just about football. They run a series of programmes that cover Derby Day violence, peer pressure, challenging stereotypes, alcohol and drug awareness and mental health education.
This photo from Tayyab Hussein is a representation of how he has progressed from being an NCS particpant to being a team leader, and member of Foundation staff. He’s pictured with Sarah, from our Youth and Community team, and Ismael, another success story from our participant pathway!
Josh Kirk, one of our NCS team leaders, chose two reflective images. The top image shows the group having to work together as a team on day one of their residential, without everyone knowing eachother.
The bottom photo shows the group together at the end of the programe after weeks of developing friendships, learning new skills, gaining qualifcations and making a difference within their local community.
Teamwork from Day 1! Well done everyone.
Next up is an image from Shayan Gazerani, one of our coaches, who captured this fantastic shot during one of his football sessions. A great summary of the work he does in the community, engagement through football can lead to a brighter future!
The fourth submission is from Gavin Ferry – his project, Toon Times, worked with over 12,000 pupils over three years before it came to an end earlier this year. Fantastic work!
Our third entry is from coach Michael Woods and it definitely made us smile. He’s entitled it “If I’ve tied one lace, I’ve tied them all!”
Our second submission is from Youth and Community team member Sarah Burn, and it’s entitled “We did it!”
These participants on a residential achieved so much, including facing their fears. This picture shows how proud, excited and relieved they were to get to the top of a particularly tough climb!
First up was Youth and Community sessional staff member Ismael Bamba. This photo was taken on one of our NCS residential’s, where Ismael was a team leader.
“This photo highlights my accomplishments throughout the year. Having the opportunity to work with groups from different ages, religions and backgrounds has given me the chance to gain new experiences and new skills. I believe I have achieved so much this year thanks to the opportunities given to me by the Foundation.”
We’ll be uploading a new staff image every week so make sure you keep checking the page! If you have been on a Foundation course or programe and want to submit a photo please email email@example.com
