Sarah Burn Named PoSBO Young Employee Of The Year

Newcastle United Foundation Youth and Community Project Officer Sarah Burn was named Young Employee of the Year at last week’s PoSBO Awards at the BALTIC in Gateshead.

The PoSBO (Positive Social Behaviour Order) Awards, now in their sixth year, celebrate and recognise the hard work and outstanding achievements made by young people in the North East.

Sarah was nominated by her Line Manager Laura Wilson, Project Coordinator. When aged 16 Sarah came along to participate in the Foundation’s Kicks football sessions.  Inspired by the work of the charity Sarah went onto to volunteer for the Youth and Community team before being employed on a part time basis within the team earlier this year.

“Sarah has been a dedicated member of our team for over a year now and her passion for the role is great example for others to follow” said Laura Wilson.

After impressing during her initial period of employment with the Foundation Sarah was promoted to a full time position where she delivers Kicks and NCS, amongst other Youth and Community projects.

On winning the award Sarah Burn commented: “It was such a great feeling to be nominated for the award, never mind winning! I’ve accomplished so much in the last year thanks to all of the opportunities the Foundation has given me, and from the support and guidance I’ve had throughout.  It’s been a great year and I hope that there is more to come next year.”

Steve Mack, Foundation Youth and Community Project Manager added: “We so pleased that Sarah’s hard work, passion and commitment has been recognised.  It’s been fantastic to see her develop over the years and we feel very fortunate to have her as part of our team.  She makes a huge contribution to our project delivery as well as inspiring and motivating other young people to become engaged in our projects.”
