Regional Semi Finalists Of Premier League Schools Qualifiers Named

Schools across the region have been competing to represent Newcastle United Foundation at the final of the National Premier League Schools Tournament.

Cragside Primary School, Burnside Primary Schools, Hadrian Park Primary School  and Kells Lane Primary School have secured their place at Finals Day of the Regional Qualifiers, representing Newcastle, Northumberland, North Tyneside and Gateshead, at the Newcastle United Training Centre on Friday 26th February.

The winning Under 11’s team will then travel to Goodison Park, home of Everton Football Club, to represent Newcastle United in this year’s National Final in May.

Each mixed team has been victorious in a 16 team tournament made up from schools in their area.

Newcastle United Foundation Football Development Officer (Schools), Andrew Dobby,  said; “There has been a huge amount of interest in this year’s tournament and it’s been fantastic having so many schools involved.  Every team wants to win the opportunity to represent Newcastle United in such a prestigious national tournament and of course, to play at Goodison Park.

“Huge congratulations to the teams that have made it to the Finals Day of the Regional Qualification. We look forward to welcoming the semi-finalists to the Newcastle United Training Centre later this month!”
