Premier League and BT Sport Disability Fund introduces Mikey

Teenage Magpies fan Mikey Buchan and Club striker Dwight Gayle star in a new BT Sport film which highlights Mikey’s development into one of the country’s brightest blind football prospects.

The film, which premieres in Premier League Tonight on 25 November, follows the story of Mikey who, having joined Newcastle United Foundation’s blind football sessions has now been identified as one of 13 boys in the UK applicable for the FA Player pathway. Watch the film at the bottom of the page.

The award-winning BT Sport Films team is producing and broadcasting short films on individuals and storylines involved in the Premier League and BT Disability programme, raising the profile of the project and the clubs’ broader inclusion work to millions of people.

Newcastle United Foundation currently engages, motivates, and inspires over 2284 children and adults to participate in Disability Football Clubs, which include Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Amputee, Frame, Deaf, Visually Impaired, Blind and Power Chair teams, every year. The support from the Premier League and BT Disability Fund helps the Foundation to inspire even more disabled people to become active as well as encouraging them to develop new skills and confidence.

See the website for more details on Adult Disability Football and Children’s Disability Football sessions.
