People’s Postcode Trust Funding Boost For Disabled Footballers
Newcastle United Foundation is celebrating following an award from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, through People’s Postcode Trust.
A giant cheque for £10,000 was handed over to head of the Foundation, Kate Bradley, by Michael O’Connor from People’s Postcode Lottery and Joe Ray from People’s Postcode Trust during half time at Newcastle United v Leicester on Saturday 18 October.
The award will fund the Foundation’s flagship football project for children and young people with disabilities, Football for All. Thanks to the project, 150 disabled young footballers have the chance to play football every week after school with another 500 children playing in school time. The Foundation has established a number of teams who represent Newcastle United including Down’s Syndrome, Wheel Chair Football, Visually Impaired and Cerebral Palsy teams.
Joseph Ray, Trusts Manager at People’s Postcode Lottery, said “We had such a fantastic day attending the Newcastle United v Leicester City football game on Saturday to present the cheque to Newcastle United Foundation. The Foundation’s flagship football project is a great opportunity for young disabled people to experience the joys of football, as well as being able to play with other children in their age groups.”
Head of the Foundation Kate Bradley added “We are delighted to receive this funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Thanks to this award even more disabled children can play football in the region.”
