People’s Postcode Trust Awards Foundation £100,000

Newcastle United Foundation has received a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.

The Foundation was awarded £100,000 by Postcode Community Trust through its Community Life Fund. Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The cheque was presented by Rebecca Whitley (Trusts Manager) and Postcode Community Trust Trustee’s, Mike Pratt and Rob Flett, to Kate Bradley of Newcastle United Foundation during half time on Sunday’s fixture against Liverpool at St. James’ Park. 

The organisation will use the money to run ‘Building Futures’, a one year project that will break down barriers to sports participation faced by people in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside and Northumberland, as well as developing their skills, confidence and motivation to achieve goals for life.

The project aims to encourage communities to feel proud of their local area and build a sense of community between people from different backgrounds. Breaking down barriers through the power of football will help develop socially inclusive communities which in turn, will help to inspire children, young people and their families to learn and reach their potential.

Kate Bradley, Head of Newcastle United Foundation, said: “I’m delighted to accept this cheque on behalf of the Foundation. The funding from People’s Postcode Lottery will make a significant difference to the lives of the communities we work with. Building Futures is such an exciting programme as it gives us the opportunity to engage with the local area on a huge scale.”

People’s Postcode Lottery is a charity lottery, where players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes. As a charity lottery, 55p from every £2 ticket goes to support charities and good causes across England, Scotland and Wales.
