North East Artist Supports Foundation With Newcastle Collection

Newcastle United Foundation has partnered with a North East artist to raise funds through her new Newcastle project.

The I Love this City / Newcastle Collection by Jane Lee McCracken takes inspiration from a series of celebrated associations with the city, from magpies, to the Tyne Bridge, to Alan Shearer’s famous Number 9 shirt.

Jane constructs intricate multi-layered drawings using only Biro pen, as well as sculptures and installations featuring her drawings. She also designs products. The Newcastle designs are available on a number of items including t-shirts, posters and limited-edition prints.

The partnership will see 5% of profits from the sale of each Newcastle T-shirt donated to Newcastle United Foundation. You can find the t-shirt online here!

Donations from the purchase of this t-shirt will support the Foundation in continuing to coach, mentor, educate and provide opportunities to communities that really need them.

Jane McCracken, said: “‘I Love this City Collection’ grew from a passion for the city of Newcastle and Newcastle United. I created the original Newcastle drawing to say thank you really, to a city and its people who have welcomed me so warmly.

“The project celebrates cities and their communities as well as the local environment and I wanted both to benefit through the project. I am therefore thrilled to be working in partnership with Newcastle United Foundation, supporting the life-changing work they do in the community.”

Yvette Thompson, Events and Communications Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, added: “Jane’s artwork is absolutely amazing – the detail is wonderful.  So many Newcastle landmarks are included – you spot something new every time you look at it!

“I am so pleased that Jane has chosen the Foundation as a beneficiary of such a fantastic celebration of life in Newcastle. Her fundraising will support our activity engaging and supporting the most disadvantaged people in our community.”
