Combining St George’s rich history and its prestigious status as one of the leading British International Schools in Europe with the Foundation’s expertise in football development will create a unique learning experience for students and an opportunity to promote the Foundation’s charity work overseas.
Liam Atkin, Senior Project Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to be working together with St George’s on our first international collaboration.
“Our partnership opens a new chapter for the Foundation as we share our knowledge and values beyond the North East, allowing us to embed further into communities across our region and across the globe.”
To kick off the partnership, St George’s and the Foundation will recruit a Head Coach and Football Development Lead to bolster PE delivery and to establish Newcastle United Foundation’s methodology within the school.
Dr John Knight, Principal and CEO at St George’s British International School, said:
“The Newcastle United Football School at St George’s marks a transformative step in aligning our sports programmes with our vision for excellence.
“The inspiring work of the Newcastle United Foundation in the community was a key reason for this partnership, as we quickly recognised our mutually shared values. Our aim is to offer students unparalleled opportunities to thrive both on and off the field.”
Newcastle United Foundation’s education team engages with more than 140 schools across the North East each year, delivering curriculum-based activities inside and outside the classroom, furthering the impact of Newcastle United in the community.
