Children enjoying athletics, dodgeball, football skills and racket skills invited Murphy and Livramento to join their games as part of their Premier League Primary Stars session delivered by the charity arm of Newcastle United.
Murphy and Livramento were also able to answer pupils’ questions, revealing their favourite footballers growing up, how they started they career and their best friends in the squad.
Paul Yeadon, Area Development Manager for Central and North Northumberland at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “As a Foundation we engage with thousands of children across the North East and it has been a fantastic opportunity for our most northern cluster of schools to come and enjoy the amazing facilities here at NUCASTLE.
“Taking part in Premier League Primary Stars activity throughout the day topped off by meeting their heroes has been an amazing experience for these young people.
“Jacob and Tino taking time out of their day to get to know our participants, to join in and to answer lots of questions has created some very special memories and inspired every student here – it’s been an excellent experience all round.”
Premier League Primary Stars is the Premier League’s primary school education programme. Funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Charitable Fund, the programme uses the appeal of football to help children to be active and develop essential life skills.
Newcastle United Foundation delivers Primary Stars sessions across Northumberland, Tyneside and Country Durham and has provided more than 37,250 hours of physical activity since the start of the school year.
Wendy Kiff, Headteacher at Spittal Community First School, said: “Students from Spittal Community School were thrilled with the opportunity to visit NUCASTLE and they had an unforgettable day.
“They thoroughly enjoyed participating in a variety of fun and engaging activities including a unique rooftop football experience.
“A real highlight of the day was the chance to meet and interact with inspirational role models from Newcastle United who shared their personal stories and emphasised the importance of hard work and dedication.
“We would like to thank the Foundation and Newcastle United for providing our students with an amazing day.”
