Newcastle United Foundation Launches Partner Club Scheme

Newcastle United Foundation has launched an exclusive Partner Club scheme to improve links with local junior clubs.

Benefits of the partnership include the Foundation delivering weekly coaching sessions across the region as well as strengthening player and coach development.

Currently Newcastle East End, Blyth Town, Blaydon Y & C, Stocksfield FC, Prudhoe YC, Felling Magpies, and Rutherford AFC are involved with the scheme for the 2018/19 season, with limited spaces available for interested local clubs.

Newcastle United Foundation coaches will deliver a series of coaching sessions at the various Partner Club venues throughout the season, including weekly skills centres, Holiday Soccer Schools, and Football Fun Days.

Clubs will also gain access to other exciting opportunities and experiences, such as a signed piece of Newcastle United memorabilia, discounts on stadium tours and match day experiences, as well as the chance for two players to be a match day ball boy/girl at St. James’ Park.

Andy Dobby, Football Development Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “We’re delighted that our Partner Club scheme has been received so well by local clubs.  It will allow us to work more closely with local junior teams than ever before and that is really exciting.

“The clubs we are partnering with hold FA charter standard status and share our view of just how vital it is to provide high quality football experiences and opportunities for our region’s young players.”

Duncan Graham, Secretary at Prudhoe YCFC, added: “Over the last few years Prudhoe YCFC have been fortunate enough to work closely with Newcastle United Foundation, who have provided some of their excellent coaching team to come to our club to deliver a range of football provision.

“This has included weekly football coaching, soccer schools, girls only fun days and disability football. Our strong link with the Foundation has also helped  the club to secure Football Foundation funding to develop our site at Eastwood Park.

“We are excited to build on our relationship with the Foundation through the Partner Club initiative and we hope that this will continue to provide high quality football coaching for players of all abilities in the local community.”
