Newcastle United Foundation Are Offering Free Walking Football Sessions

Walking Football is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle despite their age, as well as getting those back playing football who had to stop due to injuries.

As the name suggests, Walking Football is a minimal contact sport with one main difference to standard football – no running! It carries all the same rules as every day football except you can’t pick up too much speed. It provides a sociable, fun and safe environment for those looking to be a little more active in their spare time.

Newcastle United Foundation Health and Wellbeing Manager, Charlotte Dodson encourages people to get involved: 

“Walking Football is a fantastic opportunity for a variety of people. It’s perfect for individuals with mobility issues, the older generation who aren’t quite ready to quit the game, or just those who want to keep fit.”

Starting on Wednesday 6th May, the sessions are open to adults of all ages, and perfect for anyone looking to have fun, get fit and meet new people.

Delivered by highly qualified coaches from the Magpies’ official charity, the participants who attend the first three sessions will be entered into a free prize draw to win Newcastle United tickets for a home game in the 2015/2016 season.

Session details are as follows:

  • Weekly sessions held at Foxhunters Pavilion, Preston Gate, North Shields, NE29 9QB
  • Every Wednesday, 7-8pm  from 6th May 2015. Just turn up and play!
  • No running or jogging
  • Numbers per team are dependent on the number of participants at each session
