Good Luck To Foundation Staff Included In Morpeth’s FA Vase Clash

Newcastle United Foundation will be represented in this weekend’s FA Vase Final at Wembley with two members of staff in the Morpeth Town AFC squad.

Ben Sayer, Project Officer within our Youth and Community Team, and Paul Robinson, one of our Football Development Community Coaches, will take on Hereford as they look to bring the trophy to the North East.

Ben leads our Premier League Kicks sessions at Westagte, which gives young people in the area the chance to participate in free football on a Friday night. He is also a team leader on our NCS programme which takes place over the summer, delivers sessions for our Prince’s Trust Get Started cohort as well as running after school football clubs.

As a Member of our Football Development team Paul spends the majority of his time coaching various teams and clubs within the community. This includes the coaching element of our Partnership with TyneMet College. His qualifications include level 2 coaching football, youth modules 1 and 2 along with Futsal level 1.

Head of the Foundation Kate Bradley said: “We’re really excited for Ben and Paul – it’s a fantastic experience for them to go to Wembley. They are really passionate about the game and spend their working week using football as a tool to inspire the young people in our region to play or to make important life changes – the effort and commitment Ben and Paul have given on the pitch has seen their hard work pay off, which can only inspire the people we engage with even more.

“Everyone at the Foundation will be cheering them on this weekend – we wish them lots of luck!”

The FA Vase Final kicks off at 12.15pm on Sunday 22 May and will be shown live on BT Sport.
