Foundation Rewards Kind Hearted Youngster
Newcastle United Foundation welcomed 10 year old Harry to St James’ Park for Newcastle United’s 2-0 win against Wolves after hearing about his recent generous support of Cullercoats RNLI.
This summer the local community in Cullercoats rallied when the lead from the roof of the RNLI was stolen. Although the roof is being repaired by a local roofer free of charge Harry, whose family had supported RNLI in the past, decided to donate his signed NUFC shirt to help raise more funds for the charity.
As a guest of the Foundation, Harry and his Mum were invited to watch the Cup game and he was a presented with a replacement shirt on the pitch at half time in recognition of his wonderful gesture.
Harry said: “I had a fantastic night at St James’ Park – I’m a massive NUFC fan so it was amazing to go on the pitch at half time. Thank you to Newcastle United Foundation for replacing my shirt – I can’t wait to wear it!”
Andrew Foster, Programme Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, added: “We thought it was such a kind gesture from Harry to donate his shirt to raise funds for the RNLI, especially when he had only had it for a couple of weeks. We’re so glad that Harry enjoyed the night – it was fantastic to meet him.”
