Foundation DS Active Win FA People’s Cup

Newcastle United Foundation’s DS Active team were named the winners of the first round of the North East Disability section of the FA People’s Cup.

The competition took place at Goals, Newcastle with five teams competing for the top spot in a round robin tournament.

Whitley Bay Football Club, Newcastle East End Football Club, Hexham Gladiators Football Club, Gateshead Special Olympics and Newcastle United Foundation DS Active were all in action on the day with great support!

Prior to the competition the Team Managers and Referees had agreed that the winners would be voted for by the group based on effort, fair play and just really enjoying the day despite the results.

Newcastle United Foundation Disability Coach, Reggie Dornan, said: “Every single person put in so much effort into today’s competition and should be very proud of the fantastic football we saw.  The Foundation’s DS Active team really embodied the spirit of the competition and are really deserving winners. I’d like to thank Mark Daglish for organising a brilliant day on behalf of the FA, and for arranging a hugely enjoyable trophy and medals presentation at the end of the day.”
