Foundation Celebrates New Season
Guests turned out for a special Foundation Fiesta before the pre -season friendly against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
The event, sponsored by the Premier League, was hosted by Keith Downie from Sky Sports News and included guest speakers Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Vera Baird QC and Ian Watson, Director of Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums.
The day was a chance to celebrate the Foundation’s achievements over the 2013/14 season, giving hundreds of guests a chance to meet some of the local children, young people and families the Foundation has helped over the last 12 months.
Last season the Foundation raised over £2.1 million, worked with over 60,000 individuals; delivered 24,000 hours in the local community, was active in 200 local schools and saw record levels of participation on all programmes.
The event saw the induction of Newcastle United legend Frank Brennan into the Foundation’s Hall of Fame, plus the unveiling of a brand new website at www.nufoundation.org.uk.
Head of Foundation Kate Bradley said:
“Last year was an extraordinary year thanks to our sponsors and funders, our committed andpassionate staff and the people who took part so enthusiastically in our programmes.”
“We are looking ahead now to the new season as we have plans to work in even more schools and deliver even more community programmes.”
After the event itself, guests were invited to stay for lunch followed by Newcastle United v Real Sociedad.
