Eurofit: Do You Want To Become More Active?

Newcastle United Foundation is recruiting men aged between 30-65 for a new health and wellbeing programme. European Fans in Training (EuroFIT) is a 12-week course developed for football fans in England, the Netherlands, Norway and Portugal, which is being evaluated by academics at the University of Glasgow.

EuroFIT aims to help you increase your physical activity levels and to sit down less. It will also offer tips for losing weight if you want to. The programme will offer you a toolbox of skills and techniques for living a healthy life and a chance to get fitter and feel better in yourself.

Each session includes physical activity led by Newcastle United Foundation coaches at St James’ Park as well as focusing on how to incorporate these new skills and techniques into your everyday life. The sessions will also offer you the opportunity to meet like-minded people and share tips and advice.

Newcastle United Foundation Health and Wellbeing Project Manager, Charlotte Dodson, said: “For the first time we’re opening up St James Park as a venue for fans who are overweight and want to get fitter and improve their health.  Where better to start your change in lifestyle than at the stadium where your football team play!

“Participants will be fully supported during the 12 week period with guidance from qualified coaches.  We’re one of just five football clubs in the UK to be involved in this European wide project and we’re excited to get started so we can begin the process that will encourage important health improvements in Newcastle United supporters’ lives.”

The programme will begin with information session where we will take some initial measurements that will take place in October.  We are looking for men aged between 30-65, who want to get fit and do more physical activity, and who are overweight.

To get involved in this project or for more information please follow this link and register your interest using the form provided. Places are limited, so get in touch now! The closing date for applications is 18th September.
