Zip Slide 2018 Raises £15,000 To Support Newcastle United Foundation Projects
Fundraisers are celebrating today after Zip Slide 2018 raised an incredible £15,000 to support vital Foundation projects.
Thrill seekers took a ride of a lifetime over the hallowed turf of St. James’ Park, descending 150 feet while suspended on a zip line, before touching back to Earth at the Gallowgate end.
More than 70 participants, including corporate teams from Brewin Dolphin Newcastle, the Reece Group, and PG Legal, braved the high winds and heady heights on Level 7 of the stadium’s lofty Leazes Stand, to take up the adrenaline inducing challenge.
Brave participants, including Newcastle United supporters and staff from the Club and Foundation, took the plunge to boost our continued work in disadvantaged communities across the region.
Funds raised by the Zip Slide will be split between the Foundation’s many programmes including Disability Football, and Employability support. More than 50,000 children, young people and families benefit from working with Foundation each year.
Yvette Thompson, Communications & Events Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “We’ve been running the Zip Slide event for a couple of years now and it’s always great to see so many participants come out and support us. The Foundation is always looking to reach even more disadvantaged children and young people in the North-East and the Zip Slide is one of the many ways fundraisers help us to achieve this.
“We want to say a big thank you to all the individuals and corporate teams who’ve taken their time to fundraise, and of course gave up their Saturday to take part in this amazing event!”
