These Girls Can At Gateshead Girls Disability Football Festival

49 girls across four schools attended the girls’ only disability football festival at Gateshead Stadium on Thursday in conjunction with Newcastle United Foundation, Girlsport UK and Gateshead College.

Pupils from Collingwood Primary, Hexham Priory, Hilltop and Percy Hedley have been taken part in a multi sports event, hosted by Gateshead College at the multi-purpose arena, Gateshead International Stadium.

Community Coaches from the Magpies official charity have been delivering specialist football sessions throughout the day to enthusiastic players from across Newcastle and Northumberland schools. The multi sports festival has also included tag rugby, and cone based activities alongside football.

Reggie Dornan, Disability Football Coordinator at the Foundation said:

“It’s been great to see so many girls get involved in the disability festival.

“We are extremely grateful to Rob Jones and Gateshead College for hosting such a great event at Gateshead stadium.”
