Shola Ameobi Surprises Pupils At Former Primary School

Newcastle United Foundation Patron and Magpies legend Shola Ameobi made a surprise visit to his former school, Westgate Hill Primary Academy this week to see the impact of Premier League Primary Stars at the school.

The former United striker got involved in a Year 4 PE session – seeing first-hand the effect taking part in Premier League Primary Stars has had engaging pupils at the school.

Keen to see how the school had changed since he attended Ameobi went on a full tour, taking time to visit every class, even meeting the pupil that lives in his old house!

Newcastle United Foundation Patron, Shola Ameobi, said: “It was really special to come back to my old school and see the fantastic work that Newcastle United Foundation is doing at the heart of the community I grew up in.

“The impact the coaches have in the school through Premier League Primary Stars is so impressive and it makes me so proud to be a Patron.”

Through Premier League Primary Stars the Foundation provide support to schools in PE, PSHE and Literacy. PL Primary Stars also provides exclusive opportunities to Partner Schools, including the recent visit of the Premier League Trophy to Walkergate Community School.
