Premier League 4 Sport Event Held At Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme hosted the regional PL4S Table Tennis and PL Girls Football competitions on Saturday with over 120 teenagers from Leeds United, Newcastle United, Middlesbrough FC, and Sheffield United in attendance.

The event was held at Hillsborough College prior to Saturdays match vs. Middlesbrough and brought together over 100 young people from the respective footballs club’s community schemes.

Newcastle United Foundation work in partnership with the Premier League, Sport England and National Governing Bodies to increase participation in sport by delivering Newcastle United branded weekly satellite clubs in Schools and Community centres across Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside.

Lisa Bell, senior project coordinator said:

“We have had some real success with a number of our weekly participants now progressing and joining local clubs including Cramlington Table Tennis Club with whom we have a great partnership.

Table Tennis coach, Dave Godbold said:

“It’s great Newcastle United Foundation are working with so many high profile organisations to give local kids the chance to play different sports, the standard of the table tennis on the day was excellent with some promising talent on display”

On the day, Newcastle United were victorious in both the girl’s football and table tennis competitions.
