Newcastle United Foundation shortlisted for Community Award at ISC International Sports Awards 2021

Newcastle United Foundation have been named as finalists at the prestigious ISC International Sports Awards in the Professional Club โ€“ Community Award category.

The official charity arm of Newcastle United has been shortlisted for the accolade by the International Sports Convention, celebrating โ€œthe finest sports work in the worldโ€.

The Foundation is nominated in the category alongside other community-minded organisations in Brazil, Spain, England, and Scotland in recognition of their work to make a positive change in society through sport.

Now in its sixth year, the ISC International Sports Awards received the largest number of awards applications to date. The shortlisting for Newcastle United Foundation comes after a year like no other for the charity which annually supports up to 66,000 people across the North East.

Using the popularity and pride in Newcastle United in the region, the Foundation engages children, young adults, families, and older generations through 43 individual community, employability, educational and health and wellbeing programmes in schools and community venues from Northumberland to County Durham.

Over the past 18 months, the charity has adapted its day-to-day operations to continue to connect, motivate, and inspire communities throughout the pandemic.

This work has included the delivery of 15,000 food parcels to combat holiday hunger and children missing out on free school meals, 1,421 young people taking part in free football through Kicks to reduce anti-social behaviour and 1,000 phone calls made to elderly and vulnerable Foundation participants during lockdown.

Hosted annually, the ISC International Sports Awards serve to recognise the hard work and innovative thinking of individuals, groups and companies connected by sport across the world.

A judging panel made up of ISC Sports Biz Club members will agree on award winners across seven categories with Newcastle United Foundation in the running to earn the Professional Club โ€“ Community Award.

Winners will be announced during an online event to be hosted on ISC platforms on December 22, 2021. The full ISC International Sports Awards 2021 shortlist can be found here.
