Mini Magpie Surprised With Mascot Opportunity

Newcastle United Foundation participant Thomas Reynolds enjoyed an afternoon at the football as mascot on Saturday for the Newcastle United v Stoke City match at St. James’ Park.

Thomas, aged 5, was the lucky Mini Magpies participant selected at random to win the mascot prize, which was kindly donated to the Foundation by Club sponsor Wonga.

Mr Reynolds said: “Thomas really enjoyed his Mini Magpies course with the Foundation and it was a complete surprise when they called to say that he had won the opportunity to be mascot. He’s had a fantastic day – it’s certainly a once in a lifetime experience he’ll remember forever.”

Newcastle United Foundation Football Development Officer, Andrew Dobby, added: “It’s great being able to surprise our participants with such a fantastic opportunity! It was a great chance for Thomas to get close to the action and to meet his heroes. We’re so glad he enjoyed his day. Huge thanks to Wonga for donating the mascot place”
