Lord Mayor Dares To Zip Slide

Councillor George Pattison, will Zip Slide for the Foundation on 11th April next year

The new Lord Mayor of Newcastle has joined the Foundation, banishing his fear of heights to lead a 130-strong team on a 150ft zip wire from Level 7 of the stadium’s towering Leazes Stand, raising funds for the Newcastle United Foundation in the process.

The Lord Mayor has bravely decided to participate in this exhilarating event on Saturday 11th April 2015 to raise awareness and funds for the Magpie’s official charity. The money raised on the day will be used to make a difference to the lives of over 50,000 children, young people and families in the North East.

With the unique event approaching next year, Cllr Pattison is aware of the fun challenge ahead, stating:

“By taking part in the zip wire challenge, I hope to raise awareness of the Foundation’s fantastic work in the community, but hope to test myself too. I am really looking forward to this exciting yet scary challenge!”

Sarah Medcalf Development Manager at Newcastle United Foundation says:

“We are thrilled to have the Lord Mayor of Newcastle as part of our Zip Slide team for 2015. Our zip slide event offer adrenalin junkies and NUFC supporters the chance to benefit from a bird’s eye view of St James’ Park. The event is all in aid of the Magpie’s official charity, raising funds to help disadvantaged children, young people and their families across the region.’
