Longbenton High Wins Place At Regional Premier League Enterprise Challenge

St James’ Park hosted the Newcastle United Foundation heat for the Premier League Enterprise Challenge this week, with three school vying for one place at February’s Regional Final.

Groups from Longbenton High School, Kenton PLC and Southlands School were challenged to present their ideas on how they would help the Club to further engage with fans on match days.

The teams delivered pitches to three representatives from the local Business Community, ITV Tyne Tees’ Ian Payne, Newcastle United’s Partnerships Executive Ollie Stapleton and Alan Metcalfe from Zenith People.

Longbenton High School’s team, Luke Morl, Kai Morton, Ellis Coltman and Rowan Scott were named the winners after an impressive pitch to create a Fans App.  The group will now compete against teams representing Sunderland AFC, Middlesbrough FC and Hull FC at the Regional Finals in February.  The winner from the Regional Final will then represent the North East in the Grand Final in London.

After judging the pitches Alan Metcalfe said: “I was so impressed by the standard of the presentations.  The effort that had gone into considering target audiences and pulling together a business plan was fantastic. It was great to hear the youngster’s thoughts on club engagement with fans – I think they made a lot of sense! Huge congratulations to Longbenton High School on securing their place in the Regional Final – it is well deserved.”
