Introducing… Advanced Coaching Programme
The Advanced Coaching programme is an invitation-only initiative, which works with players who have shown promising skills and commitment to the game. All participants have been nominated and recruited from Foundation holiday courses and can be invited back onto the next year’s programme after a year of dedication.
The aim of the Advanced Coaching Programme (ACP), which is aligned with the aims of the FA and is part of Newcastle United’s Youth Development Player Pathway, is to identify players of excellent ability and place them in a technical and educational programme designed to develop football excellence in tandem with personal development.
The objective is to create a relaxed learning environment in which players can develop at a pace that suits each individual child. The Long Term Player Development ethos aims to develop the all-round fundamental skills of the individual, including technical, physical, mental and social skills.
Whilst several graduates of this programme are now making their way through the ranks and into professional football, many other former attendees have continued their involvement with the Foundation. Numerous former players have since successfully completed coaching awards with us, whilst continuing their college/university studies, and are now passing on their knowledge to the young players enrolled on our various coaching programmes, including the Advanced.
Highly qualified coaches deliver unique sessions four nights a week at the Magpies official training ground, and also the Foundation’s partner venue, Walker Activity Dome. Age ranges are from under six’s up to under 14’s, with specific goalkeeping training provided for under eight’s to under 16’s.
Peter Jackson, Area Development Officer for Newcastle and also the ACP lead, describes his main highlights of the programme to be watching certain player’s progress through to the Newcastle United Development Centre and onto the Academy.
“The Advanced Coaching Programme allows talented players that are yet to be picked up by an academy get quality coaching from Foundation staff at fantastic facilities.” He commented.
“It provides a learning environment for players to express their talents and learn new skills that will help them with their grassroots club or school and hopefully look to send them to the next level.”
The Advanced Coaching Programme will be starting up again in September 2015, with Foundation coaches already nominating players. For further information, please contact Peter Jackson | email@example.com
