Foundation Zip Slide Smashes £10,000 Target
More than 90 adrenaline-fuelled fundraisers raised a total of £15,022 for Newcastle United Foundation by zip- sliding across St. James’ Park last month.
Fundraisers from some of the Foundation’s corporate partners, including EE, Zenith People and Asian Business Connections collectively raised money for the worthy cause.
The businesses were also joined by the graduates of the Foundation’s Barclays Premier League Works Programme, who raised over £1,000, and participants from the current National Citizen Programme, who volunteered their services on the day.
Charity campaigner ‘Geordie Jim’ was one of the participants taking part, raising money for both the Foundation and men’s Cancer research. He said:
“Although I am absolutely petrified of heights, I could not pass up this opportunity to support the work of the Newcastle United Foundation.”
Jen Rea, Newcastle United Foundation events and fundraising coordinator, said: “We can’t thank the zip sliders enough for their support.
“To have smashed our fundraising target of £10,000 is a huge achievement and goes a long way to helping us continue to deliver projects that enhance the lives of the most vulnerable young people and adults in our community.
“We’re always grateful for the individual and corporate support we receive and we would be delighted to hear from any prospective partners that would like to work with us in the future.”
All funds raised will boost the Foundation’s health, educational and disability football projects across the North-East, which uses the power of football to engage, educated and improve lives.
