Foundation Rallies To Support Food Bank After Burglary
Newcastle United Foundation and partners have donated £1500 to the Newcastle West End Food Bank after thieves broke in and stole Christmas presents due to be distributed to underprivileged children in the city.
The donation will be used to replace stolen toys and other essential items for families in need at Christmas.
The funds are donated from the Newcastle CEO Sleepout which takes place every year to raise funds for individuals and families affected by homelessness in the city. Organised by CEO Sleepout UK in partnership with Newcastle United Foundation and Changing Lives, the event sees 50 of the region’s business executives sleep by the side of the pitch.
The next CEO Sleepout will take place on Thursday 3rd March 2016 and almost 50 top business men and women are signed up.
Kate Bradley, Head of Newcastle United Foundation, said: “As soon as we heard about burglary we wanted to help. We hope that the donation from the CEO Sleepout can go a little way towards making Christmas a little brighter for the families affected. We would like to thank all those who have taken part in CEO Sleepout events so far and those who have signed up for next year. They make donations like this possible.”
