Foundation Fundraisers Begin GNR Training

Fundraisers taking on the Great North Run to raise funds for Newcastle United Foundation met at St James’ Park this week for the first of their support sessions in the lead up to the big day.

The fundraisers have been given the opportunity to benefit from the wealth of knowledge within the Health and Wellbeing team, led by Project Manager Charlotte Dodson, by attending monthly gatherings where training tips will be shared and gentle jogging and stretching sessions will be delivered.

This introductory session gave the runners an introduction to injury prevention and general body maintenance before going on a gentle jog through Leazes Park and finishing with a stretching session.

Those signed up to run for the Foundation will also be able to submit training and recovery related questions for the team to cover at the monthly gatherings.

Charlotte Dodson, Newcastle United Foundation Health and Wellbeing Project Manager, said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to offer our fundraisers some additional support as they train to take on one of the most iconic sporting events in the UK. As a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer I have guided many clients to complete the Great North Run and I’ve done it three times myself so I know the hard work and dedication required to complete this challenge.

“It was great to meet the fundraising team this week – they are clearly very passionate about generating funds for the Foundation, which is fantastic. Each runner has their own target they want to meet and I can’t wait to help them achieve it!”
