Foundation Fundraiser Targets £12,500 With 125 Mile Walk!
Neale Carter, a Newcastle United supporter from Ayrshire in Scotland, has organised a 125 mile fundraising walk to raise money for the charity.
The walk is set to coincide with the Club’s 125th Anniversary and will start at Old Trafford on Monday 1st May and will end six days later, in time for the last match of the 2016/17 season at St James’ Park.
Neale first became involved with the Foundation last year when he raised over £700 sponsorship for his Abseil from the roof of the stadium.
On setting himself this huge impressive task Neale said: “I hit my own personal milestone this year – I’ll be 60 so I wanted to do something with a big impact! I’m passionate about the Foundation as they work supporting the local community across the North East focusing on promoting healthy lifestyles that makes a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and families.
“One of the many projects that the 50 strong coaches engage in is to work in primary schools. In September I visited Croftway Primary School in Blyth to see for myself the coaches in action. I was taken aback by the fabulous work these guys were delivering. Not only were they educating the pupils about healthy living, the parents were also invited in later to better understand what role they could play.
“I left knowing that I needed to help them to continue to make a significant difference across the region. So, please support me if you can!”
Kelly Foster, Newcastle United Foundation Fundraising Officer, added “We can’t thank Neale enough for his support. The walk will certainly be a challenge, but we know he’s training lots and I’m really looking forward to joining him for the last stage of the walk. Neale has set an ambitious target and we’re really grateful for his commitment to helping us make a difference in the community.”
Huge thanks to Neale’s Main Sponsors for the walk Clive Owen LLP and Aspire Technology Solutions.
