Foundation Fit Club Gets Funding Boost
Newcastle United Foundationโs Fit Club has been awarded a ยฃ10,000 grant to expand our community health and wellbeing provision.
The grant, provided by Sport England, will allow the Foundationโs Health and Wellbeing team to increase the number of free fitness sessions it delivers throughout the Newcastle area.
Taking place on Wednesday evenings, the Foundationโs Fit Club offers a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) class as well as a running session, designed to cater for people of all abilities.
After enjoying early success โ the club is now ready to expand its sessions beyond St. Jamesโ Park and into our communities.
Ashley Lowe, Health and Wellbeing Project Coordinator for Newcastle United Foundation, said: โWe are incredibly thankful to Sport England for their support.
โWe have been able to prove that there is a real need for this kind of provision in Newcastle and that we have been able to engage, motivate and inspire people in our community to get active through our initial sessions at St. James’ Park. Encouraging people to maintain fit and giving them opportunities to exercise regularly in aย supportiveย environment is fundamental to our team’s vision. The sessions we can offer as result of this funding will ensure our Fit Club can reach as many people as possible.โ
