DS Team Travels To Carrow Road For Showcase Match
Newcastle United Foundation’s Down’s Syndrome team, which is sponsored by Newcastle United’s First Team, travelled to Carrow Road last weekend to take on their Norwich City Counterparts.
The day began with a fixture at the Family Fanzone between the DS teams, with over 100 fans watching the action.
During half time of the Premier League match the teams were welcomed on to the pitch with a rousing reception by the crowd before showcasing their skills in a series of small-sided games.
The teams treated fans from both sides to an action-packed eleven-goal thriller, which the Magpies just edged.
Ben Asquith, Coach at Newcastle United Foundation, said, “The team had an absolutely brilliant time at Carrow Road. The opportunity to play on the pitch in front of the crowd was amazing and they thoroughly enjoyed showing off their skills and hearing the crowd cheering them on.
“I’d like to thank Norwich City Community Sports Foundation for being so welcoming and for their fantastic hospitality – it is certainly a day that our participants will never forget.”
