Codie Nichols Passes Level 1 Coaching Award
Codie Nichols, from our Female Coach Mentoring Programme supported by Sport Newcastle, has recently passed her Level 1 Coaching Award.
Codie delivers coaching for the Foundation on various projects and also currently volunteers at the Girls under 9’s Player Development Centre (PDC) sessions as part of her development with the Foundation and is looking to utilise this experience to progress to her level two qualification in coaching.
The Newcastle United Foundation Female Mentoring Programme, supported by Sport Newcastle, gives participants the opportunity further their experience in teaching and develop their coaching skills with the help of the Foundation, which also helps identify future female coaching staff for the Foundation.
The programme hones in on their football abilities as well as helping the girls with their own personal development in life. It focuses on improving the fundamental skills of the girls including technical, mental, physical, social, and lifestyle skills.
On achieving her Level 1 Award Codie Nichols said: “I have gained a lot of knowledge into coaching and I have a lot more confidence in the coaching environment. This was due to the Newcastle United Foundation giving me the opportunity to do so” she continued “Now that I have passed my level 1 coaching award, I want to do my level 2 and progress up the coaching ladder, this will allow me to gain more and more experience in furthering my coaching abilities and allow me to progress as a coach”
Lisa Bell, Newcastle United Foundation Senior Project Coordinator added: “Codie has shown real passion for coaching. She has a tremendous love for the game and we’re really impressed by her work so far. We look forward to supporting her through the level two coaching award.”
