Post-16 Football And Education
Do you love football and have an interest in working in the sports industry? Kick off your career in sport by combining your education with representing Newcastle United Foundation in a national league.
We have a number of opportunities for 16 – 18 year olds who have a keen interest in playing football while continuing their post-16 education with the Foundation.
Combining formal study and football with Newcastle United Foundation and Newcastle College, you will work towards a Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma or an Extended Diploma in Sport, allowing you to build transferable skills and qualities for a career in sport. Take a look at our opportunities below!

Men's Football Education Development Programme
Start your journey towards a career in the sports industry.
With our Men’s Football Education Development programme, you’ll get the chance to work towards a BTEC Sport qualification, train with UEFA licensed coaches, and play against other Premier League and EFL representative teams in the National Football Youth League.

Women's Football Education Development Programme
Be part of our Women’s Football Education Development Programme and follow your passion for football alongside your chosen vocational programme or A-Levels.
Our Women’s FEDP is represented across three leagues to cater for all ability levels so we can guarantee that every one of our footballers will have plenty of playing time over the course of the season.
Players also get the opportunity to wear the famous black and white stripes and represent Newcastle United Foundation in the National Football Youth League.
You could even get the chance to travel internationally thanks to Tyne Metropolitan College‘s partnership with PASS4Soccer, who offer scholarships in the United States!
