Byker Community Trust Continues Foundation Partnership

Newcastle United Foundation is excited to announce that Byker Community Trust has agreed to continue its partnership with the charity into 2018/19.

The agreement, which includes more than ÂŁ34,000 of funding, will allow the Foundation to continue the delivery of numerous community programmes on the estate.

The Foundation will grow its Premier League Primary Stars delivery in primary schools in the area by adding a literacy element to the programme, establish a new alternative sporting club through the Kicks initiative, and focus on delivery of employability projects helping Byker residents back into work, training, and education.

The funding will create opportunities for the Foundation to expand into other community activities, including establishing links with local veterans.

Rachel Bickerdike, Business Development Manager at Newcastle United Foundation, said: “We are delighted that Byker Community Trust is continuing to support our programmes in the area for another year.”

“We’ve worked hard to nurture this relationship so we can maximise the positive impact our engagement has on the lives of participants on the estate through the partnership.  This funding will allow us to continue our work as we look to expand our delivery of community initiatives in Byker.”

Philip Pollard, Director of Operations at Byker Community Trust, added: “By supporting Newcastle United Foundation to deliver programmes on the Byker Estate, we continue to provide opportunities for our tenants and residents to engage in a range of positive activities. The programmes, which are aimed all age groups, can provide a route back into work, training or education as well as promoting a fit and healthy lifestyle.”
