Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc has selected the Foundation as its nominated charity for 2017 – and plans are already underway to hit the £10,000 the group has pledged to raise.
Malhotra is the brand behind some of Tyneside’s most popular hotels bars and restaurants, with plans for venues such as The Runhead, Ryton, The Sandpiper at Cullercoats, Osbornes, Jesmond and Three Mile Inn, at Gosforth, to hold a variety of fundraising events.
These events include raising money at the Runhead and Sandpiper’s annual beer and cider festivals, with plans for collection boxes at all sites to encourage customers to donate.
Staff across the group are also being encouraged to take part in sponsored challenges and sporting events on behalf of the charity.
It’s a passion shared by Malhotra Group plc’s Director of Operations, Atul Malhotra, who said: “I’ve been heavily involved with Newcastle United Foundation on a personal level for about four years.
“We have sponsored the Foundation’s match day Half Time Prize Draw since I first became involved and having been on the Development Board for the past three years, I have first hand knowledge of the fantastic work they do.
“I am very proud to align the Malhotra Group plc with such a great local charity that does great work in the community and really changes lives.”
“£10,000 is an ambitious target but the charity celebrates its 10th anniversary this year so it seemed appropriate – and there’s never anything the matter with aiming high!
