Berwick Kicks On The Road!

Seventeen participants from Berwick Kicks, supported by the Bernicia Group which incorporates Four Housing, travelled across the region last week to particpate in a Premier League Kicks Roadshow, organised by Newcastle United Foundation.

The group were split into two teams, each taking on teams from Gateshead Redheugh Kicks, Gateshead FC Kicks and Ashington Kicks at each of their home venues.

Scores were recorded on aggregate and each fixture contributed to the wider Kicks League which sees representatives from each of the eleven Newcastle United Foundation Kick venues play each other at least once in the season.

Excitingly, Berwick Kicks came out on top in each of the three fixtures.

Berwick Kicks, which offers young people free football at The Swan Centre every Friday night from 6 to 8pm is funded by the Bernicia Group, which incorporates Four Housing.

The Bernicia Group is now one of the largest property management and development organisations in the North East of England.  It works across 14 local authorities, providing a wide range of homes and services to its customers.  As a group it is responsible for 14,000 homes across the North East and puts a strong focus into supporting the communities in which it operates.

Coach Regan Graham said: “The representatives from Berwick Kicks were fantastic ambassadors for the programme and it was brilliant to take them out on the road to meet players from other groups around the region.  They really enjoyed themselves and it really boosted their confidence coming out with three wins!

“Kicks in Berwick is so popular with the young people in the area and the opportunities they get being part of the programme keep them engaged brilliantly.”
