Barclays Premier League Works Participants Celebrate Graduation
The most recent intake of Barclays Premier League Works participants celebrated their graduation this week after completing the 15 week programme.
The graduation gave the young people the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and to share their favourite moments from the programme.
The group have had over 2219 hours of contact time, which has included developing key skills, CV building, job searches and working towards their Sports Leadership Awards. They also spent time at Barclays learning about LifeSkills and gaining key tips on managing their finances.
The participants embarked on a number of site visits with Newcastle United Foundation Employability Partners, including Premier Inn, Ikea and Metro Radio, where they learnt about their respective recruitment processes and job opportunities.
Lloyd Rogerson said: “This course has been brilliant for me. When I first started I was so quiet and a little bit lost. Now I feel so much more confident. I really feel like I’ve progressed and that I’m ready to use this experience to help me grab any opportunities that come my way.”
Newcastle United Foundation Project Officer, Al Hill, added: “I’m so proud of this group. They have come so far during the course and it’s fantastic to see them so confident applying for jobs. Three of the group have already secured employment which is fantastic and hugely deserved. I’d like to thank the group for giving me their all during the course and really committing to improving their prospects. I’m sure I’m going to be hearing lots more success stories over the next few months!”
