Barclays Boost Youngsters’ Bank Accounts With Managing Money Workshops

Newcastle United Foundation continued their excellent partnership work with Barclays Bank regional headquarters this week.

The Barclays Premier League Works programme have been travelling to Barclays Head Quarters for Money Skills training on Newcastle Quayside, where Barclays staff have volunteered their time to help young people come to terms with understanding financial statements.

Participants have been learning how to understand their bank statements, and how they can improve on money-saving whilst getting to grips with various other components of banking.

Throughout the 15 week programme, course participants will make use of the Money Skills workshops to help plan for a brighter future, preparing themselves to become more work ready.

Barclays Premier League Works uses the power of football to engage young people who are often not involved in education, training or employment. It uses the best of business to train the young people to become work ready and achieve their life goals, providing them with financial skills, confidence and the experience they need to make a positive transition back into education, access training or gain meaningful employment.

Project Officer for Barclays Premier League Works, Al Hill commented:

“Barclays have been a fantastic help to our programme, and the support from Barclays Headquarters this week has made a massive difference!”
