Take a look at all the positive feedback , to find out how Newcastle United Foundation is valued by the North East community!
Best CSR or Community Scheme – Silver – Sports Business Awards 2018
An established, excellent foundation with strong delivery in many traditional areas of community work. Impact over a long period of time, in a community that clearly needs support.
Congratulations to the Newcastle United Foundation for continuing to have a positive influence on tens of thousands disadvantaged people. This is a forensic operation and a credit to Newcastle and the people involved.
Great multi-dimensional approach to delivering inclusion and community engagement.
Wide ranging and far reaching activities that connect with the community on different levels
“A big thank you to Newcastle United Foundation and their extraordinary and talented coaches on Saturday mornings. We had never heard of Frame football before and my daughter asked if I would go to the session to give her a hand. My grandson really enjoyed the one hour session and got so much out of it with children of the same ability and he will definitely be back”.
Doug Lewis, Grandparent of a participant
“I am proud that Northumbria Police is connected to these types of schemes and will continue to do all I can to encourage this type of partnership work in the heart of our communities.”
Steve Ashman, Northumbria Police Chief Constable
“As parents we would like to thank the foundation for providing activities for children that otherwise they would have very little opportunities to take part in.”
Carol and Steve Bell, Parents of a Participant
“Thank-you to Gavin and Matty for being so supportive and catering to the needs of our students”
Rosie Betts, Teacher, Longbenton High School
“I am very grateful for the help I have received from NUF through the PL Girls programme with funding for my level 2, I love assisting on the girls programme and can’t wait until I am level 2 qualified so I can take a lead role on the programme”
Zoe Hornby, NUF Apprentice
“The PL sessions are great. The girls are being exposed to new faces, new personalities and new ideas. They have been inspired by Codie (NUF Coach) who has an infectious attitude and lovely positive manner. The coaching has been very varied and it is great to know that I can rely on the coaches arriving every week and delivering a fun yet informative session”
Cath Pendlebury, PE teacher, Cramlington Learning Village
“The coaches and The Turf has given the girls a unique opportunity to try out football in a nurturing and fun environment. Yes, they can be just as competitive as the boys, however having this space to develop their skills, talent and love for the game has been invaluable. The positive banter and great understanding from the coaches in building meaningful relationships is definitely paying off.”
Wajid Hussain, EMTEP, Ethnic Minorities Training & Education Project, Project Coordinator
“We value the NUFC kicks program in North Tyneside as we see it as a valuable service for engaging young people in sport and a tool to address anti-social behaviour”
Kerry Nesbitt, Leisure and Wellbeing Officer, North Tyneside Council
“The kicks programme has also reduced crime and alcohol abuse in the area as the young people who come along to the sessions have some where to come and socialise in the community in a structured environment with lots of mentoring and advise given by the coaches of the kicks programme.”
Terry Ritson, Senior Sports Coordinator of Gateshead Redheugh Football Club
“I’ve really enjoyed the Premier Works Programme. Before I signed I didn’t really have a routine or any structure to my day to day life. I didn’t achieve much at school and I haven’t long been out of education. I liked the team spirit among the group and how It meant everyone got on so well. I also got my first ever work experience at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, I hope I get some more and look to get myself into work full time soon’”
Daniel Jordan, Participant
“Our sons Robin and Elliot love the Deaf Football Club every Tuesday night and are passionate about taking part. It is the first major opportunity they have had to mix with other Deaf and hearing impaired children. Both of us have met other parents at the club which has helped us talking about their experiences on barriers they have overcome to be able to play.”
Bill & Marie Tyler, Parents.
“The staff were professional, polite, reliable and punctual, and managed the group very well. We have had other coaches who have worked with the children for 6 week stints who allowed overfamiliar behaviour and bad manners. The children did not enjoy their lessons and learned very little. This was not the case with Match Fit.”
Head Teacher ,Whitley Chapel First
“Huge boost in confidence in all students involved. For students to have this type of topic, environment and support though the course is an outstanding benefit and achievement to them.”
David Ferguson, Teacher, Southlands School, North Tyneside
“Staff developed excellent relationships with our children. They were particularly good at identifying children with specific needs and using positive strategies to engage the children. Content very relevant and up to date. Children engaged as fitness and nutrition information linked to matters of their interest. Good balance of theory and practical.”
Jade Wallace, Teacher,Fell Dyke
“The program has successfully raised the profile of healthy living for all the children. They often talk about what they have learnt.”
Mr Campbell, Year 4 Class Teacher ,Bede Academy
“A thoroughly enjoyable course which engaged and enthused the children from Day 1 on important topics and issues regarding their diet and lifestyle.
As a whole class the children were always enthused by the visit of the Foundation and, in particular, a small group of boys who struggle with engagement were always more attentive and focused which was great and a real boost.”
Mr Peddie, Year 4 Class Teacher ,Wyndham Primary
‘The relationship between the staff and participants was excellent, they really cared and they did everything they could to help you. I really liked the fact that staff were hands on during sessions which motivated the rest of the group. Having workshops in St James Park brilliant, and being a Newcastle fan myself I loved it! Doing regular football and practical sports sessions really broke the days up for everyone and were really enjoying. I think if we didn’t do these sessions then people would have lost interest in the course. It really kept everyone engaged’

Just wanted to thank all the coaches that made my sons experience amazing at your Football Camp in Berwick. My son plays pro youth football in Scotland but is a HUGE Newcastle fan and it’s been wonderful seeing him having fun and enjoying the game. I would be very grateful if you could pass this on to my son’s coach for the week!
Hazel Boyd, Soccer School Parent
Excellent week all round owing to superb group of inspirational coaches. The organisation was first class. Full marks for not only encouraging great football but also for focussing on good attitude and sportsmanship. Thank you.
Jan Ulyatt, Soccer School Parent
I would like to thank the coaches from the Foundation at the soccer school at Redheugh football club for their amazing work. My son lacks confidence and can be incredibly shy in new situations. He began the week on Monday morning so nervous he could barely tell coaches his name but the coaches, in particular Robbie and his group coach Esteban went out of their way to make him feel welcome and to encourage him to make friendships. That shy boy has blossomed over the week making new friends and gaining an immeasurable amount of skills and confidence along the way.The boy that came out of the course on Friday was bouncing with excitement and happiness. Thank you so much to all involved for the fantastic experience you provide for these children and you will definitely see my son on future courses.
